Tri-Council Wood Badge is a high energy, fast paced, fun filled training course supported by the Long Beach Area Council, San Gabriel Valley Council and Verdugo Hills Council.
Wood Badge is the advanced training program for adult leaders in the BSA. It is intended to increase leadership skills for leaders in all parts of the Scouting program. It has been developed for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout and Venturing Leaders, as well as council and district leaders. Its focus is on leadership, not out-of-door skills.
The Wood Badge program consists of two parts – practical training and application. The practicalleadership experience is gained in a training setting where leadership skills can be learned and practiced. At the conclusion of the practical training, each participant makes a commitment to complete a set of personal goals related to their Scouting position. In this way, the Wood Badge experience contributes to a stronger unit, district or council, as well as provide an opportunity to practice the leadership skills learned on the course.
Upon completion of this personal commitment, the participant will be presented with the Wood Badge certificate, neckerchief, woggle (the leather neckerchief slide) and beads at an appropriate public ceremony. This Wood Badge regalia is the same the world over, and signifies the completion of the highest training available in Scouting
